Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James Atere and her spouse Femi Atere have faced criticism for the disparities in the amount of money thrown during a wedding ceremony.
The pair was there for the white wedding between gospel artist Peterson Okopi and Prudent Gabriel, Veekee’s coworker.
Veekee and Femi joined Prudent and Peterson during their couple’s dance at the wedding, applauding them on and sprinkling money, as is customary at Nigerian weddings.
When it became clear that Veekee was spraying dollar bills on Prudent, the bride, and her husband Femi was spraying N200 notes on Peterson, the groom, the video received conflicting comments on social media.
The couple’s usage of noticeably different currencies became a topic of discussion online, with many questioning the optics of the situation.
