An informant and wanted logistic provider for a kidnapping and banditry group terrorizing the and its surroundings have both been captured by Federal Capital Territory agents.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed this in a statement on Saturday night, June 10, 2023. She claimed the informant, Mohammed Hamza a.k.a. Auta, was apprehended by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit near the Mongoro Forest.
“The suspect, who has been on the wanted list of the Command, is being held for his involvement in supplying firearms, ammunition and other weapons; food items and illicit drugs to the criminals in their various hideouts in the forests using a motorcycle,” the statement read.
A single AK-47 gun, AK-47 ammo, a cell phone, foodstuffs, and an unregistered boxer motorcycle are among the exhibits retrieved from the suspect.
She claimed that the Command is stepping up its investigation in order to track down and disrupt the illicit supply chain and apprehend other gang members.
In a similar manner, the Command detained 11 criminal suspects for a variety of offences, including armed robbery, unlawful small-arm manufacturing, illegal firearm possession, and illegal small-arm manufacturing.
Daniel Williams, 51-year-old, Mohammed Yusuf, 41-year-old, Abdulrasheed Abdullahi, 26-year-old, and Aminu Mohammed, 41-year-old were named as the suspects. They were taken into custody by State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) agents in the FCT’s Zuba neighbourhood.
Four locally made weapons and one live cartridge were among the exhibits retrieved from the accused.
“Preliminary investigations by the Police revealed that the gang was involved in fabricating and producing small and light weapons locally,” the PPRO added.
She claimed that on Wednesday, officers from the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters detained eight individuals in connection with an armed robbery at an Amala Garden in Utako.
She claims that after being apprehended on the basis of a tip-off, the suspects had three different calibre weapons, knives, and hard drugs on them.
