A young woman in Italy died on the operating table following a nose job performed by a doctor she discovered on social media.
Margaret Spada, a 22-year-old from Lentini, Sicily, saw an advertisement for the clinic on TikTok and decided to visit the nameless clinic in Rome for a “touch-up” on November 4.
However, immediately after receiving a local anesthetic, she was ill and passed out before the rhinoplasty could start.
Margaret’s condition quickly deteriorated despite several attempts to revive her, and she was sent to the hospital, where she went into a coma.
Margaret died in her bed at the Sant’Eugenio hospital in Rome three days later, according to La Repubblica.
“The absurd thing is that it was a routine operation,” said her family’s lawyer Alessandro Vinci.
“That a 22-year-old girl returns home in a coffin is unacceptable for the family.”
A tragic turn of events occurred when Margaret’s boyfriend, who was waiting when her situation worsened, was brought into the operating room to visit his girlfriend as she passed out.
He was so horrified by the sight that he chose to record a little video of what happened in the operating room.
According to La Sicilia, investigators are currently reviewing the video as part of a manslaughter inquiry.
The heartbreaking news of her passing has rocked the entire town of Lentini.
“The family, the parents, the sister at this moment are surrounded by the affection of many people and are closed in a silence of pain that cannot be explained in words,” said the family’s lawyer, Alessandro Vinci.
“They ask to know the circumstances and causes of their daughter’s d£@th.”
Vinci also mentioned that Friday, November 15, is the day of the post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, NeedToKnow reports that the Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a manslaughter probe.
The purpose of seizing medical documents was to ascertain whether the center had the necessary authorization to undertake intricate cosmetic procedures like rhinoplasty.
Researchers are also investigating whether Margaret’s health was appropriately evaluated prior to her anesthesia.
The Rai News Agency in Italy said that two people at the clinic are accused of manslaughter; they are thought to be father and son and doctors.
The reason behind the procedure’s participants inviting Margaret’s boyfriend into the operating room is unknown.
According to Italy’s Rai News, two individuals at the clinic are suspected of manslaughter, and they are believed to be doctors as well as father and son.
