NDLEA agents have conducted raids in Kaduna, Kano, Imo, and Lagos where they seized 3,975kg of skunk and 58,200 tramadol pills and detained 12 suspects, including five women.
This was revealed in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, on January 8, 2023.
He claims that in the previous week alone, 37.5 kilograms of illegal shipments were intercepted, and 11 suspects were detained during interdiction operations that resulted in the seizure of almost four tons of skunk in the states of Kaduna, Kano, and Lagos.
A freight agent named Ogunsina Damilare was detained at the Lagos airport on Friday, January 6, in an attempt to export 1.5 kilograms of skunk concealed in food to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through the SAHCO export shed of the MMIA.

Five suspects were taken into custody in Kaduna during separate raid operations, and 3, 672 kilograms of cannabis Sativa were found at two different locations. Edward Emmanuel, 28, and Miracle Madu were taken into custody at a warehouse in Rido village along with 298 bags of C/S weighing 3,576kg on January 3.
Investigations showed that a truck carrying petroleum products was used to transport the shipment from a southern state to Kaduna.
In addition, Sanusi Isah, 30, was detained on January 7th in the Giwa area with more than 12,000 tablets of Tramadol 225mg and Diazepam. Sunday Bassey, 29, and Jessica Daniel, 14, were also detained with 96 kg of the same substance.
On Saturday, January 7, NDLEA agents in Kano stopped Kabiru Abdulhamid, 40, at Semugu with 119 blocks of C/S weighing 73 kg, while raids in Festac town and Lagos Island areas of Lagos state netted a total of 28,400 tramadol tablets and more than 230 kg of cannabis.

Some of the suspects detained in the Lagos raids include Rukayyat Eshinlokun, Pelumi Alejo, and Banna Maina, who specializes in the distribution of illegal drugs while posing as dispatch riders.
Amechi Moses, a suspect in Imo state, was detained on Friday, January 6, as part of a follow-up investigation after 29, 800 Tramadol 225mg tablets were found in a commercial bus travelling from Owerri to Onitsha and then on to Aba in Abia state.
Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, the chairman of the NDLEA, praised the officers and personnel of the DOGI’s Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, and Imo Commands for the arrests and seizures.
He instructed them to step up the pressure on Nigeria’s drug cartels while balancing their efforts to reduce the supply of drugs, reducing demand for them.
