Adekuoroye Wins Nigeria’s Sixth Gold

Nigerian wrestling dynamite, Odunayo Adekuoroye, has claimed Nigeria’s sixth gold at the 2022 ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Friday.

Adekuoroye won the gold in the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling after beating Anshu Malik of India.

The 2018 Commonwealth champion defeated her opponent 6-4 in the final to successfully defend the crown she won in Gold Coast four years ago.

En route to the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.

The win further increases Nigeria’s gold medals so far to six, two silver and five bronze medals.

Bravo, what an accomplishment! We are so proud of you. Congratulations and best wishes to you.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
