Amaju Pinnick Loses FIFA Council Seat

Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has lost his bid to remain on the FIFA Council.

The survey was conducted on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, as a component of the 14th CAF Extraordinary Congress. Pinnick received 28 votes, one less than Souleman Hassan Waberi of Djibouti and Ahmed Yahya of Mauritania, who each received 29 votes to earn a spot on the prestigious panel.

Uncontested, CAF President Patrice Motsepe returned to office for a second term. Motsepe will be joined by Fouzi Lekjaa of Morocco, Hany Abou Rida of Egypt, Yahya, and Waberi as Africa’s FIFA Council delegates.

The women’s seat was claimed by Comoros Islands native Kanizat Ibrahim.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
