Army Hands Over Fake Major To Police

The Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, stationed in Ikeja, has transferred Animashaun Khalid, a 36-year-old male, to the Lagos State Police Command following his arrest for posing as an Army Major.

The individual was detained at the Arena Market in Oshodi, where soldiers discovered a counterfeit Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major. He was promptly handed over to the Lagos State Police Command in a smooth operation, highlighting robust cooperation between agencies.

Speaking to journalists, the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the case has been assigned to Special Squad I for an in-depth investigation to uncover the origin of the forged document, identify any accomplices, and ascertain if the suspect used the fraudulent identity to perpetrate additional crimes.

Hundeyin noted that once the investigation is complete, the case will be brought before a court for appropriate legal action.

He further stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the Nigerian Army for their quick response and seamless handover, emphasizing the value of collaboration among security agencies in combating crime. He urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior, assuring that ongoing cooperation between security forces would continue to strengthen safety across Lagos State.
