Bauchi Police Arrest Man For Flogging Wife To Death Over Ramadan Food

The horrific murder of a 24-year-old lady who was allegedly beaten to death by her 50-year-old husband after a domestic argument over the preparation of Ramadan meals has prompted the Bauchi State Police Command to open an investigation.

The terrible occurrence happened on March 1, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM in the Fadamam Mada neighborhood, close to Government Girls College, Bauchi, according to a statement released by CSP Ahmed Wakili, the spokesperson for the Command.

Following a dispute over fruits and other items intended to break their Ramadan fast, the suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a businessman at the Bauchi Central Market, allegedly assaulted his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi.

Medical staff reportedly confirmed her death after she was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH).

Meanwhile, police have arrested the suspect and recovered the cane used in the assault as evidence. The victim’s remains have been deposited in the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Many Nigerians are hungry due to a lack of food, and the situation is worsening. The hunger crisis in Nigeria is driven by a combination of factors, including population growth, climate change, inflation, and conflict.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
