Breaking News: Court Sentences Officer Drambi Vandi To Death By Hanging For Killing Bolanle Raheem

The suspended assistant superintendent of police, Officer Drambi Vandi, who was charged with the murder of well-known female lawyer Bolanle Raheem, has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Lagos High Court.

The verdict was delivered on Monday by Justice Ibironke Harrison. Drambi Vandi, who had pleaded not guilty to the murder accusations, was taken before the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) annex of the Lagos State High Court on Monday for a one-count charge of murder.

Raheem Bolanle was allegedly shot and killed by Officer Vandi in the Ajah neighborhood of Lagos on December 25. At the time of the horrific incident, the victim was traveling back home from a Christmas vacation with her family.

Various facets of society, including the political elite, condemned the murder of Mrs Raheem, who was pregnant at the time of the incident.

Even though no one witnessed him fire the shot, Justice Harrison concluded in the judgment that only the defendant had the chance to conduct the crime.

The court further determined that the prosecution’s eleven witnesses’ testimony was credible and convincing enough to result in the conviction of the suspended police officer.

Vandi had been charged by the Lagos State government with murdering the 41-year-old pregnant lawyer at the Ajah underbridge checkpoint on December 25, 2022.

May the soul of Mrs. Bolanle Raheem continue to rest in peace, Amen.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
