Court Sentences 22-Year-Old Man To D3ath By Hanging For K!lling S3x Worker

A 22-year-old man named Jamiu Malomo was sentenced to death by hanging on Wednesday, January 22, by an Ogun State High Court for killing a s£x worker named Asisat Akande.

According to reports, the victim was stabbed to death with a knife by Malomo, an ex-offender who had been released from jail a month before to the incident, after a furious fight over his failure to pay the whole agreed cost.

Malomo was found guilty of murder on a single count.

At the trial, he entered a not guilty plea.

Malomo committed the crime in 2021, at the age of 18.

The prosecution’s case against Malomo has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt, according to Justice O. Ogunfowora’s ruling.

“You are hereby guilty of k!lling Asisat Akande as preferred against you. You will be hanged by the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy on you,” the judge held.

Earlier, A.M Adebayo, the State Prosecuting Counsel, stated that the convict committed the offense on July 18, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the Ori-Apata area community of Oke-Aregba in Abeokuta.

Adebayo, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, stated that the convict picked up Akande, a s£x worker, from 3AD bar in the Panseke area and transported her to his home for s£xual enjoyment.

“After having carnal knowledge of the deceased, she demanded for N10,000 which was their agreement, but he refused to give her the complete money saying he had N8,000,” he said.

“The situation led to an argument between him and the deceased, which made the convict to bring out a knife from his pocket and stab her in the neck.

“The stab resulted in the instant d3ath of the deceased.”

He stated that the criminal was detained by police officers at the 3AD club in Panseke, where he planned to pick up another girl for s£xual enjoyment.

He, however, stated that the offense violated section 316 and was penalized under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
