Easter Saturday

Acts 4:13-21
Psalm 117(118):1,14-21
Mark 16:9-15

Today’s first reading (Acts 4:13-21) continues with the trial of Peter and John before the elders of the people. They are explicitly warned not to preach about Christ again, but they confidently declare that they cannot make such a promise— their belief in Christ is unshakable. The authorities are once again afraid of public opinion, which strongly supports the apostles and their message. Today’s gospel (Mk 16:9-15) recounts Christ’s meeting with His disciples. They initially refuse to accept the testimony of those who say they have seen the risen Lord, prompting Jesus to rebuke their lack of faith.

The gospel concludes with the powerful command to “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News.” The unwavering commitment of Peter and John, as demonstrated in the first reading shows they have fully embraced this mandate. This command is also ours—to carry out regardless of our circumstances. Are we actively fulfilling it? May God strengthen our faith and hope in the power of the resurrection. May He grant us joy and courage to bear witness boldly, speaking openly of what He has done to save us from sin and death. Amen. Have a blessed and grace-filled weekend!
