According to reports, 100 students who were kidnapped from St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State, have been freed by the Federal Government.

Over the course of three hours, the gunmen, who arrived on motorcycles at around two in the morning, assaulted the school dorms and kidnapped 315 people, including 12 professors and 303 kids.

Security personnel and local hunters were sent in to search the surrounding forests for the kidnappers. Fifty students managed to flee within the first day of the incident and were reunited with their families.

But 265 people remained in captivity, including all 12 teachers and 253 children.
