Five Arrested For Allegedly Kidnapping And Killing 17-Year-Old

Men from the Gombe state police command have arrested one Ahmadu Ibrahim and his co-accused for allegedly kidnapping and killing a 17-year-old student after his father refused to pay a ransom of N700,000 to the kidnappers.

The accused were detained following a formal complaint by the victim’s father, Alhaji Ahmadu Yaya of Arawa Quarters Gombe, according to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mahid Muazu Abubakar, at a news conference held at the state command headquarters.

Muazu stated that on October 30, 2023, the distressed father of the deceased complained to the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit that on the same date, some unknown men contacted and informed him that they had kidnapped his son, Al Amin Alhaji Ahmadu, and demanded N5 million in ransom.

The father went on to say that his son Alamin, a student at Ubaida Academy Arawa, left home on an errand and did not return till he received the call demanding N5 million as a ransom for his release.

The Police Public Relations Officer, on the other hand, stated that upon receiving the complaint, the anti-kidnapping team, led by the O/C Anti Kidnapping, sprang into action and succeeded in arresting the above-named suspect and promptly began an investigation. Further inquiry indicated that Ahmadu Ibrahim, who works at a rice mill company under the victim’s father, was the brains behind the victim’s kidnapping.

“The suspect confessed to having kidnapped the 17-year-old Alamin and taken him to Lijji Hill but later confirmed to have killed him following the failure of his father to pay the ransom of N700,000 naira as earlier agreed through phone negotiation, Suspects are under our custody and will be charged to court for prosecution.”

The PPRO also identified the remaining suspects as Ahmadu Ibrahim Bello’m’ 25yrs, Babuka Mohammed Abubakar’m’ 35yrs, Abdulsalam Mohammed’m’ 28yrs, and Muhammadu Abubakar’m’ 28yrs, all of Liji Quarters Gombe.
