Gunmen Kidnaps Mother Of APC Senatorial Candidate

Honourable Tijjani Ibrahim Gaya, the mother of the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Jigawa Central senatorial district, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

On Monday night, June 20, Hajia Jaja, a septuagenarian, was kidnapped from her home in Jigawa State’s Kiyawa Local Government Area.

DSP Lawal Shisu, a spokesman for the Jigawa State Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying that suspected kidnappers raided the senatorial candidate’s family home and carried the victim away to an unknown location.

The state commissioner of police mobilized a special police squad to rescue the victim after receiving the kidnapping report, according to the PPRO.

He stated that the police are coordinating with other security agencies and the public for relevant information in order to ensure the immediate arrest of the suspects and the rescue of the victim.

According to a source in Kiyawa, the gunmen invaded the town in three vehicles, numbering between 15 and 20 men.
