In the first part of the article, we discussed four (4) best foods we can eat during the winter/harmattan period. But we can’t limit them to jut 4 can we? There are a plethora of other food /fruits that can and should be consumed during this season to support the immune system and other illnesses. Some out of many are;

  1. Yoghurt
    Yoghurt is an excellent source of probiotics, which are beneficial bacteria that help maintain gut health. Since the majority of your immune system is located in your gut, keeping it healthy with probiotics is crucial for overall immune function. Choose natural, unsweetened yoghurt and incorporate it into your diet with fruits, nuts, or as a topping for breakfast.
  2. Warm Herbal Teas
    Herbal teas, such as chamomile, peppermint, or echinacea, can help hydrate your body and support your immune system during winter. Chamomile tea has soothing properties that can help with sleep, while echinacea tea has been shown to help reduce the severity of cold symptoms. Warm tea also keeps you hydrated, which is essential for maintaining optimal immune function.
  3. Nuts and Seeds
    Nuts and seeds like almonds, sunflower seeds, and walnuts are excellent sources of vitamin E, which helps regulate and support immune functions. Vitamin E is also an antioxidant that protects the body from oxidative stress, which can weaken the immune system. Snack on a handful of nuts or sprinkle seeds on your salads, smoothies, or oatmeal to reap the benefits.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
