Join Us Or Shut Down – Protesters Threaten Business Owners

Business owners have been advised by Nigerians taking part in the End Bad Governance demonstration in Jos, Plateau state, to either join them on Monday, August 5, or close their shops.

According to DailyTrust, the protestors issued the warning today, August 4. They stated the action is taken to guard against harm to their properties.

The demonstrators claim that President Bola Tinubu neglected to address the urgent issues facing the country in his Sunday broadcast.

They promised to organise more people to show up and voice their complaints and displeasure with the broadcast, stressing that the protest was their sole opportunity to communicate their concerns to the authorities.

Adults and children made up the protestors, who were observed carrying signs, leaves, and national flags from one street to another while announcing, “No business tomorrow. Everyone ought to attend the demonstration tomorrow.”

The demonstrators’ main demands are to address national insecurity and remove the fuel subsidy.

During his broadcast, Tinubu said that although eliminating the fuel subsidy was a difficult decision, it was essential since it had become a noose around the “jugular of our Nation” and hampered economic development and advancement.

“I, therefore, took the painful yet necessary decision to remove fuel subsidies and abolish multiple foreign exchange systems which had constituted a noose around the economic jugular of our Nation and impeded our economic development and progress,” he had said.

There haven’t been many violent incidents reported during the peaceful rally in Plateau.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
