Let Your Light Shine For Others To See

Shine, Let your light shine for others to see!

Every opportunity we have, must be use for ourselves and others. In today’s gospel,Jesus warned against hiding a lighted lamp under a. bushel, basket, bed ( I presume hiding it under the bed looks really dangerous), any hidden or secret place. Luke 8:16; Mark 4:21; Matthew 5:15; Luke 8:16; Luke 11:33.

What this underscores, is that there is always a link between our truthful and full love of God and honest lives, and the revelation of God’s glory in our lives.
Am I focusing on what is truth, the commandments of God or am I neglecting the spiritual as we often wont to do? The nature of our preparation determines the magnitude of God’s glory we exude in our lives. Without an adequate preparation for the light of truth through faith and obedience , sin will envelope us and God’s glory will be eclipsed.

Hence, the right preparation is a radical change of behaviour and attitude to abruptly break away from sin and its proclivities going in the opposite direction to welcome God’s kingdom of peace and justice. This entails true repentance and total conversion of heart to have the love of God in us. Because a heart without the love of God is cold and cannot see and feel God in itself nor in others and as such cannot love others. A heart that cannot love is full of evil and lacks good. A heart that lacks good is proud and cannot show gratitude to the God who though was God chose to come as a servant for our salvation. An ungrateful heart is sinful and dark and cannot aspire to holiness and righteousness which endears us to God. So, ask yourself, how is your heart? Remember however the words of the psalmist who reminds us that a humble contrite heart the Lord will not spurn (Psalm 51:17). No doubt His coming is imminent!

If we continue to study God’s word, we will not remain in the dark, we are exposed to a light so bright that nothing can extinguish it, and those around us can shine as well! We must die to ourselves and allow Christ to shine in our lives.

Let us ask ourselves the salient question; Am I living my life in such a way that I have placed my lamp “on a lampstand “so that those who enter may see and also know who shines in me?

Let us allow the light of Christ to enter into your lives and shine brightly for all to see. His light of truth and teachings lead us through, and with, His light of wisdom, peace and hope, we are guided safely on our journey towards our heavenly homeland where we shone as bright as the sun forever before His radiant majesty.
