More Troubles For Naira Marley As Radio Stations Banned His Songs

Nigerian singer and songwriter Naira Marley is facing more troubles as some radio stations in the country have decided to ban his songs from their airwaves.

The stations have cited moral and ethical reasons for their decision, as well as the controversy surrounding the death of his former signee, MohBad. Naira Marley, who is the founder and CEO of Marlian Records, has been accused of promoting cybercrime, drug abuse, and sexual immorality in his songs. Some of his songs, such as “Soapy”, “Am I A Yahoo Boy”, and “PXTA”, have been criticized for their explicit and vulgar content.

The ban also comes in the wake of the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, also known as MohBad, who was a popular Nigerian rapper and a former signee of Marlian Records. MohBad died on September 15, 2023, under mysterious circumstances.

Naira Marley has denied any involvement in MohBad’s death and has described it as painful. In a statement he issued last week, he said, “I don’t know what happened to Moh Bad.

He was my brother and my friend. I loved him, and I supported him. I have nothing to do with his death. Whoever did this to him will pay for it.”

He also said that he is not a fraudster but a musician who speaks for the voiceless. He said, “I am not a Yahoo boy. I am an artist who speaks the truth. I sing about what is happening in our society. I am not glorifying fraud, but exposing the reality of our situation.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
