National Strike: Leaders Of NLC And NASS Hold Lengthy Meeting

The leadership of the National Assembly and the National Labor Congress (NLC) are currently engaged in a marathon, ostensibly with the goal of thwarting the intended nationwide strike.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas is in attendance at the meeting being presided over by Senate President Senator Godswill in Room 301 of the White House.

Principal officers and the chairs of many committees from both chambers are also present.

The NLC President, Joe Ajeoro, led the organized labor participants in the meeting, while Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, led the ministers.

As he welcomed them, Akpabio stated that they are not assuming the role of the Executive or that of Labour, saying that it will be difficult to negotiate while on strike.

Ajeoro on his part said that what they are fighting for is living wages for workers.

The meeting has entered into an Executive session for them to brainstorm.

Details later…..

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
