NIGERIA @65: INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN, HON. OLUWAFEMI DANIEL ODUNAYO

…Says today reflects the sacrifices of our founding fathers
…Commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Initiatives”
…Affirms Nigeria is on the path to greatness; calls for unity, resilience, and active citizenship

Today, I proudly join millions of Nigerians—especially the good people of Itire-Ikate LCDA—in celebrating our nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

Independence Day is more than a public holiday; it is a moment for reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to our shared future. It is a time to celebrate our unity in diversity and to honour the sacrifices of our founding fathers who secured the freedom we enjoy today. Above all, it reminds us of the strength, resilience, and faith that bind us together as one nation under God.

As a people, our collective support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remains crucial in rebuilding our economy, creating jobs, strengthening national security, and fighting corruption. With his visionary leadership—and the compassionate efforts of our dear mother, First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, through her Renewed Hope Initiatives—Nigeria is firmly on the path to greatness.

At the grassroots, Itire-Ikate LCDA remains unwavering in its commitment to transparent, inclusive, and people-centered governance. Our administration continues to prioritize:

Upgrading essential infrastructure

Expanding access to potable water and sanitation

Strengthening primary healthcare and education

Creating opportunities for youth and women

Partnering with security agencies to ensure safer communities

We will not relent in delivering programs and policies that uplift the quality of life of our people and create an enabling environment for businesses and families to thrive.

On this historic day, I call on all residents to embrace unity, tolerance, and civic responsibility. Parents, faith leaders, youth groups, business owners, and community stakeholders each have vital roles to play in shaping the future we desire.

To our youth, I say: your creativity, energy, and innovation are the engine of our national development. Channel them into enterprise, education, and service to humanity. To our public servants and partners, continue to serve with integrity and commitment. And to our security and emergency personnel, I salute your courage and reaffirm our administration’s partnership in protecting lives and property.

As we mark Nigeria @65, let us celebrate responsibly and prayerfully—with gratitude for our past and hope for a brighter tomorrow. May this anniversary rekindle our patriotism and strengthen our resolve to build a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation.

May Almighty God grant us wisdom, courage, and unwavering unity as we work together to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

Signed:
Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
