Nigeria Police Repatriate Chinese Gang Leader Who Fled To Abuja After He Was Declared Wanted In China

In a significant triumph in the fight against transnational organized crime, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully extradited a prominent Chinese fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.

Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who shared this with journalists, stated that the operation, managed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja, was carried out in partnership with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, representing a landmark achievement in global law enforcement collaboration.

He noted that Dai, a well-known gang leader wanted for masterminding violent organized crimes in Guizhou Province, escaped from China in 2024 after an arrest warrant was issued by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County. He remained at large until INTERPOL operatives in Nigeria located and apprehended him in Abuja on August 8, 2025.

Adejobi further stated that, following his capture, the fugitive was extradited to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under a police-to-police cooperation framework enabled by INTERPOL.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the operation’s success as evidence of the Nigeria Police Force’s steadfast dedication to global security and justice.

“This operation sends a clear message to criminals worldwide: Nigeria will not be a safe haven for fugitives,” the IGP was quoted as saying.

He underscored the value of intelligence-sharing, operational teamwork, and robust international partnerships in tackling modern transnational crime networks.

Adejobi emphasized that the operation demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and making a significant contribution to global security through effective law enforcement collaborations.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
