Nigerian Pilgrim Dies In Saudi Arabia

Tawalkatu Alako, a Nigerian pilgrim from the Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi State, died in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Alhaji Faruku Aliyu-Enabo, executive chairman of the Kebbi Pilgrims Welfare Board, stated this in a message to press on Sunday, May 26, 2024.

“The deceased died on Saturday after a brief illness and her funeral prayer took place at the Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Ka’aba). She was buried according to Islamic rites on the same day,” the statement read.

The chairman, on behalf of the Kebbi government, expressed his sincere sympathies to her immediate family, Kebbi pilgrims, and the entire state.

Meanwhile, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), has expressed condolences to the Kebbi State Pilgrims’ Welfare Board following the pilgrim’s death.

Dr. Aliyu Tanko, Makkah Office Coordinator, delivered a condolence message to the Kebbi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board Officials led by Alhaji Garba Takware, in which the Chairman expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family and the people of Kebbi state and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased’s soul eternal rest.

Alhaji Takware responded by thanking the Commission’s leadership for the visit and praying for a smooth Hajj operation.

Special prayers were offered for the souls of the deceased and other pilgrims.

The Saudi Liaison Officer, Ustaz Abubakar Lamin, and other officials joined the Coordinator on the visit.
