Nigerian Student Killed By The Propellers Of A Plane He Hired For A Date

A Nigerian student studying in the United States was killed by the propeller of a private plane he chartered for a dinner date.

Sani Aliyu, 21, passed away on Sunday, October 16, in a bizarre accident after running into a small plane’s propeller while returning from a date.

At Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport, the Georgia Southern University student was returning to the plane being flown by his two friends when he was struck twice in the head.

Mr. Aliyu and his date flew to Savannah, which is close by and around 55 miles from Statesboro, where he was going to school.

According to Jake Futch, the Bulloch County Coroner, who spoke to the Statesboro Herald, “They flew to Savannah to go on a date, flew back, landed at the Statesboro Airport, and the young lady got off the plane, and he got off the airplane and walked toward the front of the plane.

“And when he did, the propeller hit him.”

According to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson, the accident occurred around 10.35 p.m. on Sunday after the plane “taxied onto the ramp area” and was left standing still.

The pilot, the co-pilot, Mr. Aliyu, and his date were among the four occupants onboard the single-engine Cessna.

According to reports, no one else was hurt.

Todd Hutchens, a spokesman for the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, claimed that the occurrence was accidental and that no one was to blame: “Nobody is really at fault for anything. It was an accident.”
