GOD WITH US AND WE ARE ALSO CALLED TO BE ONE WITH HIM
At her son’s naming ceremony, Elizabeth says the child’s name will be John. Zechariah writes (since he still cannot speak) that the child’s name is John, reflecting what the angel told him (1:13).
This allows Zechariah to speak again, affirming his faith in God’s plan. With this coincidence, the people wondered what kind of child this would be (1:66), noting that “the hand of the Lord was with him.” When selecting someone for service or a significant role, they must be a person of God, with God’s hand upon them. We should seek this too.
Today, ask God to be your God, that you worship Him, and that His hand guides, leads, and equips you for the service He has prepared.
