Olympics Set To Ban All Transgender Athletes Across All Sports

The International Olympic Committee is allegedly preparing to prohibit transgender women from participating in any women’s competition divisions.

This alteration is scheduled for formal disclosure at the beginning of the upcoming year, according to a report from The Times on Monday, which referenced unnamed insiders.

The choice to revise the existing guidelines stemmed from the athletic body’s execution of a research-driven assessment concerning the bodily superiorities held by individuals born biologically male, according to those insiders.

Reacting to the matter, the IOC declared that “the working group is continuing its discussions on this topic and no decisions have been taken yet”.

During the previous week, the association’s chief medical and research official delivered a progress report to IOC delegates while the entity progresses through the specifics of the prospective adjustment.

Representing a major departure from prior stances, ex-swimmer Coventry—who earned seven Olympic medals—stated to BBC Sport back in June that the IOC ought to “play a leading role” within the dialogues surrounding this subject.

On that occasion, she disclosed that a task force addressing the concern, comprising specialists and global sports federations, aimed to “ensure that we find consensus”.

She indicated that delegates of the IOC had demonstrated “overwhelming support” toward safeguarding the women’s division within athletics. Previously, the IOC had delegated matters of gender eligibility to the oversight organizations of specific disciplines, instead of imposing a standardized framework.

Nevertheless, back in February, United States President Donald Trump enacted an executive directive that bars transgender women from taking part in women’s competition sectors.

He indicated that the directive would encompass the 2028 Olympics held in Los Angeles and that he intends to refuse entry visas to transgender competitors seeking to enter the United States for participation in the event.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
