“Please Allow Me To Pick My Successor,” Buhari Tells APC Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has pleaded with governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to permit him to choose his successor ahead of the APC presidential primary election.

The president made the appeal during his address to the Progressive Governors Forum on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Buhari, state governors were given the option to choose their successors, and he requested that he be given the same opportunity at the federal level.

The president said, “In keeping with the established internal policies of the Party and as we approach the Convention in a few days, therefore, I wish to solicit the reciprocity and support of the Governors and other stakeholders in picking my successor, who would fly the flag of our party for election into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.

“We gave governors re-election tickets or opportunity to pick their successors; allow me pick my successor,” he said.
