Police Apprehends 8 Secondary School Students For Cultism

Officers from the Ogun State Police Command have detained eight students suspected of participating in cult-related activities on the school grounds in the Ifo region of the state.

Verifying the detention, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, explained that the apprehension occurred after the school’s leadership sounded the alarm about a rising group of student cultists.

She stated, “On the 21st of March 2025, at about 1205hrs, the Vice Principal of Ifo High School, Mr. Alako Oluwole, together with a teacher, Mr. Akinseku Oloruntoba Julius, reported that a cluster of students had been engaging in cult-associated actions, causing disruptions and extracting valuables from their peers.”

According to Odutola, the detained students have been named as follows: Omolaso Waris (16 years); Bennett Bolawatife (15 years); Aluko Taiwo (15 years); Akinola Ifeoluwa (16 years); Azeez Hassan (16 years); Kilani Babatunde (aka Soldier) (16 years); Kehinde Aluko (15 years); and Fasedemi Samuel (16 years).

The police spokesperson indicated that initial inquiries disclosed that the students belong to the Future Guys (F.T.G.) cult group and were purportedly inducted by two older students, Ebenezer Ope (the group’s President) and Ebenezer Tobi, both in SSS 1.

“The Police have launched an in-depth investigation to assess the scope of cult activities within the school and to curb future incidents. The students will be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department once the initial investigation wraps up.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo PhD, has instructed that the students be presented to him on the following workday for additional questioning, during which arrangements for counseling and mentoring will also be made.

“CP further reaffirmed his dedication to upholding law and order in Ogun State and encourages parents, educators, and community figures to work together in eliminating cultism from educational institutions,” Odutola said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
