A 25-year-old man was detained by the Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday, August 18, for reportedly killing two of his children, aged 3 and 5, in the Himikidu community of the Michika Local Government Area.

The victims were allegedly murdered by the suspect, Elisha Tari, a resident of Himikidu in the Michika Local Government Area, who repeatedly struck them on the head with stones and sticks.

The grandfather of the children reported the case to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Michika.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim’s mother and the suspect split up two months ago as a result of a misunderstanding.

The suspect is currently being questioned by the police to find out why he killed his children after being caught as he tried to flee to Cameroon.

The state police command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident and said that the state Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, had expressed his sorrow over the tragic incident and had instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police CID to take charge of the investigation and ensure the suspect’s prosecution serves as a deterrent to others.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
