Putin Suggests Hosting Zelensky In Moscow For Peace Meeting

Additional information has emerged regarding Vladimir Putin’s recent suggestion for a peace summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Moscow, brought up during a phone conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The discussion occurred at a critical time, as Trump was hosting high-level discussions in Washington with Zelensky and several European leaders, including representatives from Germany, France, Finland, Italy, and the UK, all of whom have steadfastly supported Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s invasion.

According to individuals familiar with the conversation, “Putin mentioned Moscow” as a potential location for peace negotiations. Zelensky promptly dismissed the idea, reportedly informing Trump that he would not participate in talks held on Russian territory.

European leaders in attendance also cautioned Trump that Putin’s proposal “did not seem like a good idea,” given the ongoing conflict and Moscow’s persistent military offensives.

Following the White House summit, Trump stressed that a direct meeting between Putin and Zelensky could serve as a next step toward resolving the war, now entering its fourth year with no definitive progress. He has publicly advocated for renewed diplomatic efforts, despite widespread doubts among U.S. allies about Putin’s motives.

Zelensky has consistently stated in recent weeks that he remains open to direct negotiations with Russia’s leader, but only under conditions that ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty and security. Tens of thousands of lives have been lost since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, and millions more have been displaced, heightening the urgency for a resolution.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed to Russian state media that Putin expressed to Trump his openness to the “idea” of direct talks, though no specific framework was proposed.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
