Seeing your children grow into adulthood is the joy of every parent and being alive to witness the christening of your great-grandchild is joy unspeakable!

Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday attended the double christening of her two great-grandchildren.

The 95-year-old monarch, who has canceled several recent public appearances on the advice of her doctors, witnessed the baptisms of August, the son of Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, and Lucas Philippe, son of Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall.

Members of the Royal Family and close friends attended the private service at the Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, west of London.

August was born in February and Lucas was born in March. The mother of both the boys is the granddaughter of Rani.

The Queen has 12 great-grandchildren, the youngest of them being 2-month-old Sienna Elizabeth, daughter of Princess Beatrice, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Concerns were raised about the monarch’s health last month after he spent a night in a London hospital after being admitted for medical tests. In late October, palace officials said doctors had told the emperor to rest for two weeks and perform only light duties.

She had planned to attend the annual Remembrance Sunday service on November 14, but dropped out at the last minute after she sprained her back.

On Wednesday she returned to public duties, holding a personal audience at Windsor Castle with the outgoing chief of Britain’s armed forces.

The Queen is set to celebrate her platinum jubilee next year – completing 70 years on the throne.
