Ram Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison For Head-Butting A Woman

After allegedly head-butting a woman to death, a ram was sentenced to three years in prison.

Adhieu Chaping, 45, was allegedly attacked by a ram over the weekend, which repeatedly hit her in the chest before she died.

After being sentenced by traditional leaders in South Sudan, the ram was also forced to spend time in a military camp as part of its penalty.

This comes after the victim’s family was assured by the ram’s owner that they would receive five cows as compensation for her death.

Police major, Elijah Mabor told Sudan’s Eye Radio, “The ram attacked by hitting her ribs and the old woman died immediately.”

“So this is what happened in Rumbek East in a place called Akuel Yol.

“Our role as police is to provide safety and separate fights. The ram was apprehended and currently under custody at a Police Station of Maleng Agok Payam.”

The Authorities stated that the two families had reached an agreement in which the owner will give the deceased’s family the cows, based on a local understanding established by community elders.

The ram’s owner has been identified as Duony Manyang Dhal.

The owner of the ram and the victim’s family are neighbours and related, according to County Administrator Paul Adhong Majak.

The ram is expected to be given to Chaping’s family once it is released from prison, according to local legislation.

Both families signed a contract, with the police and community leaders involved, to formalize the agreement.
