Ruben Amorim ‘Believes Coaching Manchester United Is More Complicated Than He First Thought’

According to reports, Ruben Amorim, the new coach of Manchester United, is afraid that his new role would be more difficult than he initially anticipated.

Prior to joining Manchester United, Amorim had not lost a league game all season. This is only the second occasion in his managerial career that he has lost back-to-back league games, having fallen to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

However, ESPN reports that the Portuguese feel the position is “more complicated” than the one that was offered because of an injured team, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s controversial choices, and the departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth.

ESPN reports that in order to maximize his time on the field, the Portuguese coach also avoids holding too many personal meetings with his players, leaving that to his sidekicks.

With 19 points after 15 games, United is currently in 13th place in the table, eight points worse than they were at this point last season, which ended up being their worst Premier League season.

Amorim has won two, drawn one, and lost two of his five games as manager thus far.

After the 2-0 defeat by Arsenal, he said: “I think that is a key point for us, and we have to understand our supporters, just in two weeks, four matches, they just want to see effort, then they want to win games and after a while we win games, they will want to see a very dominant team.

“These are the phases we have to follow. Effort is easy, full sprint back and forward, so that is a key point and our focus is on that.”
