If Christ asks what you want, what will you say? In today’s gospel, the blind man cried out, “Jesus, have mercy on me” when he heard Jesus passing by. Seventeen times in the New Testament, Jesus is called the “son of David” by those seeking mercy or healing, like the woman with a demon-possessed daughter and the two blind men. Their titles show their faith: calling Him “Lord” signified His divinity and power, while “Son of David” expressed belief in Him as the Messiah.

The blind man’s faith was so strong that nothing could stop him. Are there barriers blocking your relationship with Christ? When Jesus asked what he wanted, he said he wanted to see again — longing for more than physical sight, but spiritual insight into the beauty of life. Christ restored his sight because of his faith.

How deep is your faith? Do you ask God to strengthen it? Do you listen and obey His Word? Do you trust and appreciate His blessings? Let us focus on the path to life and lift our voices, “Pass me not, O Gentle Savior.” Hear our cry, have mercy, Lord.
