WE ARE ONE iN JESUS

Today’s readings serve to deepen our devotion and engagement in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass by emphasizing Christ’s selfless offering of himself at the communal table and on the cross.

St. Paul, in his letters, alludes to the words of consecration, portraying Christ’s act of imparting His precious Body and blood to all without discrimination. The psalm’s antiphon expresses faith and hope in the proclamation of the mystery of Christ’s Crucifixion and the anticipation of His return.

In the gospel passage for today, the centurion displays humility in seeking healing for his servant, recognizing both his authority and his subordination. His statement, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word…,” conveys the universality of Jesus’ healing and presence.

As we partake in the celebration of Christ’s selfless offering at the altar, let us be filled with gratitude and joy as we gather around the table.
