Shakira’s latest “diss track” about her ex-partner Gerard Pique and his current girlfriend has reached the top of Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart.
The ‘Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53’ song, which was released in Spanish earlier last week, has received an amazing 111 million views on YouTube for the 45-year-old Colombia-born singer.
The song makes fun of her ex-boyfriend Gerard’s new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, 23, whom he allegedly started dating before they broke up, saying, “I’m worth two 22’s. You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo. You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”
Shakira worked with producer Bizarrap to create the song, which is currently at the top of the Spotify rankings.
Along with reaching the top, the viral collaboration broke the record for the most streaming by a track in Spain and Colombia by becoming the Latin song with the most streams in a single day in 2023.
The song swiftly rose to the top spot in Spanish-speaking nations like Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico with over 15 million streams and reached the top 10 in Switzerland (7), Luxembourg (5) and Malta (6).
The success on the charts follows news that Shakira has placed a horrifying life-size witch doll on the balcony of her Spanish home, which apparently looks over the apartment of her ex’s mother.
Locals reportedly heard Shakira “blasting the diss song at full volume” from her house, which has lyrics directed towards Gerard’s new girlfriend.
Some of the lyrics of Shakira’s most recent song are directed at Clara, Gerard’s alleged new lover, and her ex-mother-in-law.
She croons the lyric, “You left my mother-in-law as my neighbour, with the press at the door and the debt in the Treasury… ” in the song.
According to rumours, Montserrat Bernabéu, Gerard’s mother, damaged her relationship with Shakira after she warmly accepted her son’s new relationship.
