Terrorists Attacks Benue Community, Kills Over 11 Persons

Terrorists are said to have killed at least 11 persons in the Igama community in Edumoga Ehaje district in the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.

The terrorists besieged the community around 4 a.m. on Sunday, according to villagers, and opened fire on the residents.

They allegedly set fire to practically every building in the area.

The villagers stated that at least 11 bodies had been discovered and that they were still looking for missing people.

Amina Audu, the Chairman of Okpokwu LGA, told reporters that she had received three corpses at the local government headquarters in Okpoga and that another six corpses were being transported from Igama, one of the affected communities.

The intruders were active in the village between 4 and 6 a.m., according to Audu, and they burned down all of the homes.

The victims were all youths, according to the chairman, while the elderly and ladies were permitted to go.

She said, “I’m right now at the Police station in Okpoga awaiting the corpses, soldiers and other security men are here with me.”

SP Catherine Anene, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Command, confirmed the event when contacted.

“The incident is confirmed but the command is yet to receive details from officers who went to the scene,” she said.
