Veteran Actor Says No Woman Can Break His Heart

Seasoned Nollywood actor Dele Odule has clarified the facts regarding reports that he was devastated by a young female student, stating that the widely circulated claim was entirely misconstrued.

In a recent conversation with Punch, the esteemed actor mentioned that individuals misconstrued his motivational post, transforming it into mere gossip.

“Nobody broke my heart; nobody can break my heart. I can only get disappointed,” Odule said. “That disappointment can come from anyone — a friend, family member, or even my child. But heartbreak, no.”

He clarified that the content which spread online was merely an uplifting message, not any kind of personal admission.

“Someone even said it was a 200-level student. I laughed. My first daughter is a lecturer with a PhD; how can a 200-level student break my heart? That would be silly,” he said. “If I were ever to be involved with a 200-level student, she would just be a passing fancy; nothing serious.”

The experienced actor, who has worked in the film industry for many decades, stated that nowadays people exploit social media to distort harmless statements solely to gain attention and interaction.

“People now use social media for clout and money, even at the expense of integrity,” he said. “At a time, people claimed I had 10 children with 10 women. I simply agreed; after all, it’s not a crime in Nigeria. If it’s a sin, I’ll face it when I get to heaven.”

Discussing his impressive acting career, Dele Odule indicated that he does not select roles according to his preferences — rather, he concentrates on delivering his utmost effort to whatever role is assigned to him.

“I don’t choose roles; they are chosen for me. My duty as an actor is to interpret whatever role I’m given. That’s the essence of acting,” he explained.

Regarding the upkeep of healthy relationships and handling fame, the actor noted that his experience has taught him to avoid arguing or reacting excessively to rumors.

“If what’s being said doesn’t harm my career, I simply say, ‘I’ve heard you,’” he said. “As long as I’m not accused of any crime, I don’t take things to heart.”

He further addressed the subject of polygamy, asserting that it continues to be an element of African tradition, despite being disapproved of in the West.

“Polygamy is part of African culture. I’m not saying everyone should do it, but if a man can responsibly care for multiple wives, why not? What I frown upon is irresponsibility,” Odule said.

The actor observed that although social media has assisted in promoting actors and their projects, it has also turned into a fertile ground for spreading false information.

“Fame and scandal go hand in hand; you just have to make sure your image stays clean by avoiding crime. I’m not perfect, but I try to stay upright,” he concluded.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
