WAEC Temporarily Suspends Release of 2025 WASSCE Results Due to Technical Glitch

In a surprising turn of events, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary halt to the release of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates. This decision comes in light of technical issues uncovered during a recent internal review.

Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs, shared that the glitches are tied to a new paper serialization system introduced to eliminate examination malpractice. This innovative approach was applied to essential subjects like Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

“We discovered some technical bugs affecting the results,” Adesina stated. “While adopting the serialization method—already successfully used by another national examination body—was a step towards enhancing exam integrity, these unexpected issues have forced us to suspend access to results temporarily.”

Consequently, WAEC has disabled access to the results on its official portal while it works diligently to resolve the problems. The Council emphasized that these measures are in line with their commitment to fairness, professionalism, and adherence to international assessment standards.

“We sincerely apologize to all candidates and the public for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding as we address this situation promptly,” WAEC reassured.

Candidates who managed to view their results are encouraged to check back after corrections are implemented. WAEC remains steadfast in its dedication to maintaining integrity, excellence, and public trust in its services for the Nigerian youth. Stay tuned for updates as WAEC works tirelessly to rectify these issues within the next 24 hours.
