Woman Kidnaps Child; Says Children Are Being Taught By Computers And Need To Die

A woman in Indiana allegedly abducted an eight-year-old girl from a playground, brought the child home with her confused husband, and then raced down the street naked.

Brittany Hurtt, 34, was detained on Monday, January 2, during an altercation with Austin police.

According to court documents, as she was being brought for a medical exam, she complained that kids “were being taught by the computers and all the children needed to die.”

Before the kidnapping that resulted in Hurtt’s capture, she had, in the past, allegedly attempted to take another child.

Later on, the intended victim told police Hurrt had grabbed her wrist and said, “Let’s start a family.”

According to an arrest affidavit cited by WXIN-TV, police were alerted that a lady had scaled a fence, kidnapped an eight-year-old child from a playground at an elementary school, and driven off in her car.

According to authorities, Hurtt’s husband later flagged down police, informed them that his wife had returned home with an unknown child in the backseat, and then started to strip before running down the street.

A police officer swiftly took the child back to the school, while Hurtt—who was “running in the street nude carrying two white trash bags”—was being pursued.

According to court documents, Hurtt hit an officer’s car and attempted to “yank the door open” before being handcuffed by policemen who then struggled to get her into the police car as she resisted.

Hurtt reportedly began yelling and “kicking the back windows” of the car after getting inside and refused to put on the clothing that her husband had provided.

Officers attempted to cart Hurtt to the emergency room, in order to take her there.

She allegedly kicked an officer in the hand at that time and started “making statements about how the children were being taught by the computers and that all the children needed to die.”

Hurtt is now accused of kidnapping, assault on a public safety official, criminal trespass, restricting an officer, public indecency, and public nudity, according to Austin police’s Facebook post.

The campus was placed on lockdown following the incident, according to a statement from Austin Elementary School, and the kidnapped child was “returned within minutes.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
