Limited Edition Of 2,026 Rings Announced Ahead Of Spain Vs Argentina Final
FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 World Cup will receive championship rings for the first time in the tournament’s history, in addition to the iconic trophy and gold medals. The announcement was made in a statement on Thursday ahead of Sunday’s final between Spain and Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
According to FIFA, the initiative introduces one of the most recognisable traditions in American sports to global football. “In a momentous first for a FIFA competition, the tournament winners will also receive bespoke championship rings, bringing one of the most recognisable American sporting traditions to the global game,” the statement said.
FIFA said a limited edition of 2,026 individually numbered rings would be produced to commemorate the tournament. “Each ring will be part of a strictly limited edition of just 2,026 individually numbered pieces, a direct tribute to the tournament itself,” FIFA stated.
The world football governing body explained that 30 rings would be reserved for the World Cup-winning team, while the remaining 1,996 would be made available to fans worldwide as an official licensed product.
FIFA added that one side of the ring features the FIFA World Cup trophy, while the other will be customised to reflect the identity of the winning team. Each ring will also be individually numbered, custom-fitted, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The governing body said the captain and head coach of the winning team would receive temporary rings immediately after Sunday’s final to commemorate the victory.
FIFA added that the 30 rings for the champions would later be customised and officially presented to ensure a perfect fit for each recipient.
