Burna Boy Breaks Records As First African Star To Conquer Billboard Global 200 Chart

Burna Boy, a Nigerian Afrobeats artist, is the first African musician to top the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.

His joint FIFA World Cup song with Shakira, “Dai Dai,” reached the top of both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl, marking the milestone. charts for the United States this week.

In the US, the song continued to perform well, moving up 12 spots to reach a new high of No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.

After 15 weeks on the chart, fellow Nigerian singer Tems achieved yet another career milestone when her song “What You Need” rose five spots to a new peak of No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tems became the first solo African artist to reach the top spot on both the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart and the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
