27th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4
Psalm 95:1-2, 6-7, 8-9
2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14
Luke 17:5-10

In the first reading, Habakkuk, a lesser-known prophet called the “wrestler with God,’ asks how long he must cry out for help while God seems to ignore him. Amid chaos and violence before Israel’s defeat and exile, God urges Habakkuk to renew the people’s faith, as losing spiritual direction leads to decline. Saint Paul encourages Timothy to rekindle his gift of faith—spirit of power, love, and self-control—and warns communities against drifting from true service to the Lord, urging them to return to their spiritual roots. Today, Jesus asks us if we remember He is our Master and we are His servants, if our lives are rooted in God, and if we focus on Him rather than human ambitions. Reflect on the gifts from Confirmation—wisdom, understanding, courage, knowledge, reverence, wonder—and let them renew your Christian life.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
