A High Court in Awka has refused to renew its order on 5 July 2021 to seek Mr. Valentine Ozigbo’s disregard as genuine candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, granted by the litigant, Ugochukwu Uba, on the battlefield.
This order, initially granted by Justice Obiora A. Nwabunike, under Order 40, Rule 3(3) of the Rules of Procedure of the High Court, may remain in force for only seven days after which the court may renew or, consequently, be dismissed.
It was abated and vacated in today’s proceedings, Monday, 12 July 2021, and the Court refused to renew this order. Thus the order, which restricted “Valentine Uzigbo as the genuine candidate for the Anambra State,” from submitting, receiving, parading or receiving the People’s Democratic Party.
Valentine Ozigbo is still the acknowledged PDP candidate for the elections to Governorship in Anambra on 6 November because the Court refused to grant renewal of that Order.
The news of the holiday of this order is generating a broad jubilation throughout the state of Anambra, since Ozigbo, a favorite in the local community, was accepted as the “brightest chance” by the masses of Anambra of recovering from the decline of the last seven years under Governor Willie Obiano’s failed leadership.
It should be remembered that on 26 June 2021, in a heavily contested primary election led by the National Working Committee of the PDP, Valentine Ozigbo came up as the flag-bearer of the PDP. The primary one, controlled by INEC, has been considered the most free, fair and trustworthy in the party’s history.
PDP warmongers across the country are still congratulating Mr Ozigbo, who is considered to be one of the highest political entrants in the South East. Ozigbo has been congratulated by top leaders such as former Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, former Senate President Pius Anyim Anyim, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Senator Stella Oduah and many more, as well.
The majority of citizens in the Southeast are convinced that it is time that anambra was seized by the Uba brothers who were cited as “lead actors in the destabilization and destruction of the State of Anambra” by Harvard University report.
