Coastal Highway Is Beautiful, It Inspires Us To Make Heaven – Umahi

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, expresses that the stunning aesthetics of the streets along the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway ignite a desire to aspire towards reaching heaven.

While appearing as a guest on Arise TV during the weekend, Umahi pondered about the appearance of heaven, considering the coastal road could be deemed “so beautiful.”

“I was present there; I felt extremely thrilled and I remarked that if the street of the coastal highway can appear this gorgeous, how magnificent will the streets of heaven be? It encourages us to strive harder and aim for heaven; it’s a splendid location,” Umahi stated.

Providing progress details on the initiative, he mentioned that the initial 30km segment of section one within the 750km highway is scheduled for inauguration by President Bola Tinubu on May 25.

He elaborated that the roadway was elevated sufficiently to surpass the anticipated ocean flood levels.

“That has positioned numerous adjacent structures in a highly precarious state since our road height aligns with the level of their initial decking. Consequently, we’re building a retaining wall throughout,” he explained.

Per Umahi’s description, the primary section spans 47.47km featuring six lanes, with three lanes per carriageway. He noted that a train track, 12m wide, runs between both carriageways, accompanied by bridges along the route.

“The initial section is expected to be completed within 36 months, commencing in March 2024; we’ve completed roughly one year. By the 14th of this month, we’re set to initiate construction from the Calabar end,” he remarked.

Umahi indicated that the launch in Akwa Ibom is planned for the following day, and the commencement of the Ebonyi segment of the project is slated for April 16.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
