DJ Neptune Reveals Why Lots Of Artists Go Broke

DJ Neptune, a well-known Nigerian disc jockey, recently discussed the reasons behind some musicians’ financial difficulties, emphasizing in particular the absence of financial preparation during their prime years in the music business.

During a guest appearance on the Zero Conditions Podcast, Neptune stressed the value of prudent money management and cautioned against careless spending.

Artistes feel fame is forever; that’s why some of them, while they are at their peak, don’t save up their money, they don’t invest,” Neptune explained.

He recounted a conversation where someone mentioned how some artists spend their advance payments on expensive cars, like a Benz. Neptune called this a short-sighted move, saying, “Is that not your future you’re driving?”

That’s why I tell some of my colleagues, while you are on top, invest your money. If it’s properties you want to do, just have a side income,” he advised.

He noted that only a select few are able to maintain their careers for more than a decade, and without the ability to adapt, many artists could lose their way.

It is only a few of us that have the grace to be in the game for more than five, ten years. You are appealing to a certain age group, and if you don’t know how to tone down and switch, you might have missed your way,” Neptune concluded, urging artists to plan for their future.
