FG Awards N100m Grants To 200 Young Entrepreneurs

The Federal Government (FG) awarded N100 million awards to 200 Nigerian youngsters selected from throughout the country on Saturday in order to increase their economic growth prospects.

Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education, distributed the funds during an ‘Unlock Training’ workshop in Abuja.

Arogundade added that 120 were newcomers, while the other 80 were existing businesses that required financial assistance to grow.

The presentation was the culmination of a six-week presidential campaign in which young people were urged to record and submit a minute-long video on their current talents, future plans, and how they believe the government will help them achieve their goals.

Aside from receiving solar kiosks, participants received a Certificate of Completion. After the presentation, Arogundade told journalists that the entrepreneurs had been schooled on the components of a successful business strategy, as well as money management.

She said, “Today, we are giving out N500,000 grants each to 120 winners with the best business plans. We are also giving out honourary awards to 80 persons seen to be doing very well in their Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship skills but need support to upscale their businesses.

“I am here to assure you that the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, is thinking about you, not just because of this programme but because of the numerous initiatives he is creating across the country to promote technical and entrepreneurship education.”

Similarly, in May 2024, Minister of Youth Development Jamila Bio-Ibrahim revealed intentions to revamp and restructure the National Youth Service Corps Scheme.

The Minister also indicated that over 5,000 corps members’ entrepreneurial projects will be financed with approximately N10 million and that a team to oversee the assessment, restructuring, and reformation would be established soon.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
