A Florida family violates their “grin” homeowners association rules and puts on Christmas lights too early and now they are been fined for it.

The Moffa family hired a company to decorate the courtyard of their Tampa home affiliated with NBC on November 6 WFLA told,

A few days later, he received a letter informing him that he was now facing a fine for violating his HOA agreement.

If they don’t remove the lights, they could face a fine of $100 per day, up to $1,000, the letter said. Michael Moffa said he had no plans to turn the lights off.

“It was his only availability, and I couldn’t climb on the roof myself,” he told the TV station, adding that he didn’t know it was against the rules to put on Christmas lights before Thanksgiving.

“Holidays and the pandemic, I think kids want something that’s more vivid to look at,” he said.

“I’m like, ‘Are you kidding me?’ It’s Christmas lights,” he added Washington Post, “I’m not going to take them down, even though the guidelines say I put them on pretty quickly. Everything looks great and for them to be the Grinch like that, it’s just unheard of.”

A lawyer for the Westchase Community Association said a neighbor complained about the demonstration.

“Which caused the community manager to investigate,” Jonathan Ellis told WFLA.

“One of the things they’re withholding is from someone who has holiday lights on all year long or things along those lines.”

“The Association has not imposed any fines and no decision has been made on whether the penalty will be imposed in relation to Mr. Mofa’s failure to comply with the Association’s rules regarding holiday decorations,” he said.

Mr. Ellis said the rules have to be followed, but said the board is open to discussing the changes.

Mr Moffa says the association is not receptive to the offer to keep the lights off until Thanksgiving.

While the annual debate over how early it is to Christmas decorations continues, Moffa found some support from singer Mariah Carey, whose extensive music career was fueled by the success of her 1994 holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You”. impressed by the success. ,
