Gunmen Open Fire On 22-Year-Old Lady Outside Eatery

Police in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, are looking for two gunmen after Tia Ashleigh Robinson, 22, was shot and killed in Pinetown, west of Durban’s city centre.

Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, a KZN police spokeswoman, confirmed the occurrence in a statement issued on Saturday, January 27, 2024, and indicated that a murder case is being investigated.

According to Colonel Gwala, the victim was shot several times outside a prominent restaurant on Thursday, January 25, 2024. She was brought to the hospital in severe condition and died from her injuries.

“It is alleged that the victim was parking her vehicle when she was ambushed by armed gunmen who opened fire and wounded her. She was taken to hospital where she subsequently died as a result of her injuries,” Gwala said.

Garrith Jamieson, an ALS representative, stated that emergency services responded to the incident on Pastoll Road shortly after 8 a.m.

“Paramedics were directed to a vehicle where a female, believed to be in her 20s, was found in a critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to her body. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the woman on the scene before she was rushed through to a nearby Durban Hospital however, she died a short while after arriving at the hospital,“ he said.

Meanwhile, Robinson has received numerous condolences on social media following her passing.

She’s been described as a nice person with a big heart.

Robinson’s uncle, Grant Robinson, said the family is crushed by the young woman’s death.

Speaking with journalists, he stated that the family is waiting for answers.
