Youth Leaders Halt Construction Of Brothel In Community

The Okutukutu community’s youth leaders have halted the ongoing construction of a brothel in Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

Kester Wilcox, the youth president, stated in a Facebook post on Saturday, January 27, 2024, that if a brothel is erected in the town, young girls will be initiated into prostitution.

He also issued a strong warning to those involved in cultism and the distribution of illegal narcotics in the neighbourhood.

According to Mr. Wilcox, anyone seen roaming around the town at midnight without an explanation will be considered as a thief.

“Today the leadership of Okutukutu Youth Movement (OYM)led by my humble self, Kester Wilcox went out with some well meaning youths of Okutukutu community both indigenes and none to make proclamation and sensitization,” he wrote.

The mission:

“1: We stop an on going construction were they are building a brothel( if allowed to continue it will be a center of criminal activities, drugs, and lots of young ones will be initiated into prostitution, a lot of children will want to copy what they see) so we kicked against anything brothel in the community

“2: Anyone caught stealing will be dealt with accordingly

“3: as parents if you know your children are into stealing or robbery better tell them to stop if not, if caught no matter how you plead justice must prevail

“4: If you are selling hard drugs, and taking drugs please stop it, if caught we will handle you as a common criminal

“5: If you are a cultist and you are oppressing people in your street, please better stop it, if we hear anything relating to that, the community will come for you and you will pity yourself

“6: If you are more than 3 boys leaving in a room and you have no job, or anything doing please start packing out, if caught we will take drastic action against you

“7: From 12 a.m. no movement inside village. If caught without proper explanation will be treated as a thief.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
