Jesus The Son Of David, Have Mercy On Me

Jesus The Son Of David, Have Mercy On Me

If Christ should ask you what you want him to do for you, what will be your request? What would you want? What would you ask? In today’s gospel, as soon as the blind man heard that Jesus was passing by. He cried out Jesus, the Son of David, have mercy on me.

Seventeen times in the New Testament Jesus was described as the “son of David.” By people who, by faith, were seeking mercy or healing. The woman whose daughter was being tormented by a demon (Matt.15:22) and the two blind men by the wayside (Matthew 20:30) all cried out to the Son of David for help. The titles of honor they gave Him illustrate their faith in Him. Calling Him “Lord” expressed their sense of His divinity , dominion, kingship and power, and calling Him “Son of David,” expressed their faith that He was the Messiah who has.come to redeem and restore.

The faith of the blind man was so strong that no one was could stop him. Is anything stopping you or blocking you from having a loving relationship with Christ? Are you creating barriers for the opportunity that is coming your way? When Jesus asked him what He wanted Him to do for him, He replied he wanted to see again.. He did care solely for sight to be restored. He longed for the window of the soul that allows man to see the world and appreciate its goodress.

Christ gave him sight because of the faith He had in Christ. How deep is your faith? Do you ask God to increase your faith? Do you listen to the Word of God everyday and anytime you listen to God do you keep his words? Do you obey Him? Do you trust Him? Do you appreciate the things God has restored back to you? Do you count your blessings?

St. Albert is known as universal doctor because he had great interest in natural science, geography, medicine, astronomy, philosophy theology etc. One of his interesting quotes goes thus, “It is by the path of love, which is charity, that God draws near to man, and man to God. But where charity is not found, God cannot dwell. If, then, we possess charity, we possess God, for “God is Charity” (1John 4:8)”

Let us be generous in serving God and others. May we never be blinded like those in the days of old by our sins. May you win the Lord’s support and favour as you go about your plans and duties today. Material things will not blindfold nor mislead you.
May the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph intercede for you. Amen
St. Albert -pray for us. Amen.

Do have a grace-filled week ahead.
